A resident of California, Zia Shlaimoun has worked in the tech industry all of his professional life. In his first professional role, Zia Shlaimoun served as a research and development engineer with IBM Hursley in the UK back in the late eighties, where he worked as part of a collaborative team that created new technologies and products. Later, he joined Data Dynamics, a technology company in the UK, as a product engineer, where he supported the development, marketing, and sales of the company’s multi-user micro system platform.
After leaving Data Dynamics, Mr. Shlaimoun became co-owner and technical director of Jilutech Systems, a distributor of PCs and PC add-on products. His responsibilities included sourcing new products and manufacturers, negotiating distribution agreements, and managing company finances. He held this role until 1993, when he was appointed CEO of Atto Electric. At Atto, Mr. Shlaimoun focused on developing and manufacturing energy-saving products for global clients. He patented a groundbreaking energy-saving technology, developed products based on it, brought them to market internationally, and ultimately licensed the technology to a major manufacturer.
Mr. Shlaimoun has been recognized for his innovative work with honors such as the European BIC Innovator of the Year Award and the Barclay Bank Commercial Innovation Award. He was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts for his contributions to reducing global carbon emissions.
